Opening a new spec revision

Article summary

When a specification needs to be revised (i.e. updated and published as a new version), the following steps must take place:

  1. The owner of the specification revises the change requests included in the Change Request Log (click 'Open Change Request Log' button and approve or reject all the change requests).
  2. The owner of the specification closes the Change Request Log (mark the Change Request Log as 'Complete').
  3. A Specification Revision Request is created by the owner of the specification (click again 'Open Change Request Log' button and then 'Create Revision Request') .
  4. When the Revision Request is complete (a 'Reason for Change' shall be provided), a new version of the specification is created after clicking the 'Send' button. You can now mark again the Change Request Log as completed and close the window.
  5. During this time, the published specification will remain active for use, there will exist another specification (the new version) within the 'In Progress' view of specifications.
  6. When the new version is published (after editing, review and approval), the old version will be moved to the archive.
